FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 17/7/11

Last week 110 rods caught 160 fish for an average of 1.45.

Getting a little harder now as the temperatures rise but on the overcast days it seems to improve the fishing and there are still lots of fish moving on the top.

The best fish of the week was an 8lb 2oz rainbow caught by Mr N Wiggall from Nuneaton who was fishing Cocks Close with a small Buzzer.  Robert White of Lapworth fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught five fish with the biggest at 4lb 13oz with Diawl Bach and Blob patterns working for him.  Both anglers fished on intermediate lines.  Ken Randle of Balsall Common caught and released two fish at 5lb in a four fish bag whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these came to a Bloodworm pattern fished on a floating line.  On the Great Pool, Mr C Howarth caught a 5lb rainbow in a five fish catch which came to various Lures on an intermediate line.

The best patterns are Bloodworm, black Buzzer, Hoppers, Damsel Nymph, Blobs, Montana Nymph and GRHE.

The hotspots are the sand bank on Cocks Close and the deeper water near the dam walls on Great Pool and Hall Pool.
