 REPORT

MOLANDS   Fished well in the Drennan KO Cup match on Monday but the heavy rain and cooler temperatures made the fishing hard throughout the rest of the week.  Caster, chopped worm and maggot are the best baits for mixed nets with long pole at 10 – 13 metres or just down the first shelf at 4 – 5 metres.  The fish are tightly shoaled making sport very patchy but if you are on the F1’s, shallow pellet or pellet waggler is accounting for the better catches.  Top pegs 12 – 19, 25 – 31, 40 – 46 and 54 – 57.

GEARYS    Gearys has been a lot more difficult than the previous week with the drop temperatures affecting the fishing on all of the pools.  Carp to 18lb have featured in matches but they are not showing in large numbers. With straight lead and pellet accounting for the better catches.  Mixed nets of skimmers, roach and tench are coming to chopped worm and caster or pellet fished on the pole.  Top pegs are 9 – 13, 19 – 23, 28 – 31 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS    As with most of the pools, catches are down with match nets to 60lb best this week but as the average size in Little Gearys is generally small and anglers are still getting plenty of bites all around the pool.  F1’s and skimmers are providing the best action with the better catches coming close in down the near margin.  Best pegs 3 – 7, 17 – 21 and 25 – 26.

GRATUITIES   Best fished with caster or expander pellet down the margin or just down the first shelf and mixed catches of crucians, tench, carp and skimmers are coming to this.  Some bigger fish are coming to bread or dog biscuit fished on the top.  Best pegs 1 – 4, 8  and 11 – 15.

ANNIVERSARIES   The better catches are coming to caster, maggot or small expanders with lots of skimmers and crucians showing along with a few tench, carp and F1’s.  The slightly deeper water at the far end of the pool from pegs 1 – 6 and 21 – 23 have been in best form.

SIBLINGS   Good mixed nets of tench, crucians and skimmers are coming to the caster or pellet fished close in down the first shelf.  The carp have not being showing as well as last week but fish to 17lb have been reported on boilies fished up to the reed beds.

WILLOW    The best tactic this week has been to fish a pellet feeder or small cage feeder with short hook lengths and get it tight to the island for carp and F1’s.  Pellet, meat and corn have been the best hook baits.  The evenings have produced some bigger carp in the 6 – 12lb range fishing down the margins with corn or meat.
