REPORT

MOLANDS Molands has been in terrific form this week with lots of ton-up catches in matches and a new five-hour record again this week with Mick Bull catching 198lb 4oz in Wednesday’s Open match from peg 60. Pleasure anglers have also enjoyed some tremendous catches with carp to nearly 20lb coming to surface baits such as dog biscuit and one angler reported catching 27 fish from 8 – 15lb+ from peg 13 all coming to bread. Lots of tactics are catching fish with a method feeder tight to the island on long pole and pellet shallow the pick at the moment. Top pegs 2 – 6, 13 – 19, 23, 31 – 39, 43 – 46 and 52 – 60.

GEARYS The fishing has been good at times with carp to over 100lb and silver fish bags to 50lb+. In the hot weather, the carp have been moving on top all over the pool and the best chance of catching is either mugging or surface baits and fish to 20lb have been caught on both this week. The silvers, particularly skimmers, have been coming to pole and caster or corn fished close in at five metres. Best pegs have been 9 – 13, 19 – 23, 27 – 29 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS Continuing the good form of late with match weights to over 140lb and good back up catches around the pool. Pole and pellet or caster fished shallow for F1’s around the 2lb mark has been the top tactic. Meat or corn down the margins or method feeder to the island are also accounting for decent nets. Top pegs have been 1, 3, 7 – 11, 19 – 23 and 27 – 30.

GRATUITIES The hot weather has seen the carp moving all over Grats and up in the water tactics such as pellet waggler or on the top with bread or dog biscuit have accounted for plenty of fish in the 4 – 8lb range. In the evenings, fishing close in with meat or paste has also worked well. Lots of crucians, skimmers, tench and the odd barbel are being caught on chopped worm or caster.

ANNIVERSARIES F1s and decent sized bream have been providing the best of the action on Annies with nets to around the 80lb mark coming out. Paste, worm/caster or expander pellet fished on the pole in the open water has been the best tactic. Top pegs have been 2- 6, 10,
17 and 21 – 23.

WILLOW The best tactics have been to fish shallow with pellet/caster or paste down the margins with lots of F1s in the 2 – 3lb range and similar sized carp are coming to this. Pellet waggler or surface fishing is working for the better sized carp.

SIBLINGS A (Doughnut) More consistent than of late with nets to around 70lb of mixed fish including ide, skimmers, F1s, tench and carp. Pellet, paste or chopped worm/caster have been the best baits and pegs 1 – 5 and 17 – 22 have been the better pegs.

SIBLINGS B (Horseshoe) Lots of bites with nets in matches to over 80lb made up of mainly small F1s with a few carp, skimmers, ide and barbel. Caster or soft pellet is working best.
