FISHERY REPORT

MOLANDS The carp anglers have enjoyed good success this week with fish to over 28lb being caught along with numerous doubles. The night fishing trial saw one angler catching 47 fish to 23lb which all fell to a prototype boilie that he has been developing. There was also a 23lb fish caught on the Vets match by Chris Greenaway of Nuneaton. On the matches, nets to 100lb were caught and the F1s were showing a little better this week with pole fished meat the top tactic for F1s to 9lb. The carp have come to the method/waggler and wafter/pellet fishing tight up to the island. Best areas have been 1 – 6, 19 – 25, 31 – 35, 43 – 48 and 56 – 60.

GEARYS Definitely on the up this week with match weights to around 120lb and carp to over 22lb were caught. A few anglers fished on Gearys during the night fishing trial and Cavon Phillips had a very productive 24 hours catching 60+ carp with four over 20lb and many doubles included. Cavon caught off the top during the day and used pineapple boilies during the night. The matches are being won by mugging carp on the pole and pellet, bomb with 8mm pellet or long pole and 6mm pellet on the deck. Best pegs have been 6, 13, 18 – 21, 29 – 31 and 36. The fish started spawning at the weekend.

LITTLE GEARYS Match weights to around 60lb have been best but the pool has not been in the best form during the week with the F1s really not showing well at all. The spawning started when the weather improved and this has not helped. Pole fished meat and a small method feeder to the island have been the best tactics. Pleasure anglers have caught some nice carp to 18lb off the top with dog biscuit or bread.

GRATUITIES Like all the pools, the fishing was affected by the spawning when the weather turned warmer and carp nets to around 50lb were best before that. Bomb/pellet or meat and method feeder to the island accounted for fish from 3 – 6lb. There were plenty of silver fish to had on maggot or caster over ground bait.

ANNIVERSARIES Another pool that has shown to be reasonable consistent over the past week with lots of F1s and silver fish to be caught. Pole/float fished maggot or expander pellet has caught the better nets with most pegs producing decent sport at the moment. Pegs 1 – 3 have seen the bigger carp being caught with fish to double figures coming to paste or corn.

WILLOW The fish have not really started to spawn on Willow and the fishing has been ok over the past week. Carp to upper doubles but averaging around the 7lb mark and fish to 5lb have made up the better catches. Corn, meat or paste fished short on the pole and waggler/method feeder to the island have been the top tactics.

SIBLINGS A Fished ok early in the week with nets to 70lb of carp and F1s being caught on meat, pellet or corn fished across to the island or down the margins. The spawning started on Saturday and catches were well down from there on and they switched to having more natural baits such as worm or caster.

SIBLINGS B Probably the most consistent pool recently with F1s from 1 – 4lb showing on all pegs and catches to 70lb have been caught. Pole fished meat, maggot or caster fished across to the far bank or short at five metres has been the best tactic.
