REPORT

MOLANDS The fishing was superb at the start of the week but the very cold weather at the weekend curtailed the action. Match weights to 150lb were caught on the midweek match with lots of 100lb catches as well but down to 50 – 60lb weights by the weekend. Big F1s to 7lb, carp to double figures and an increasing number of tench are featuring in catches. Pole and meat was the outstanding tactic when it was fishing well but switched to pole and pellet as the temperatures dropped. Waggler and pellet and pellet feeder also scored well.

GEARYS Match weights also to 100lb were best and there were some cracking fish caught including carp to over 20lb. Bomb and pellet, feeder with wafter and pole with corn or worm down the margins were the best tactics. Best pegs have been 1, 7 – 13, 17 – 21, 30, 31 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS Steady and consistent rather than spectacular. Pleasure anglers reporting bags in excess of 100lb made up mainly of F1s with the odd carp to double figures. Pole fished meat or pellet down the margins or shallow pole and pellet close down the middle has been the best tactic.

GRATUTIES Carp were being caught on the top with bread and dog biscuit with fish to 15lb coming to this. Pellet waggler or pellet/method feeder to the island also accounted for plenty of carp in the 2 – 6lb range. Good mixed nets consisting of skimmers, roach, perch, crucians and tench are being caught on pole fished maggot/caster.

ANNIVERSARIES Shallow pellet or caster is working well with F1s and small carp and the odd bigger bream or tench coming to this tactic. The main bowl area on pegs 6 and 16 – 23 has been the most consistent pegs.

WILLOW Shallow was best with pellet waggler or plopper accounting for great nets of carp and F1s up to 4lb. Meat or corn down the margins caught the bigger carp with fish to 12lb coming to this.

SIBLINGS A The carp showed well with fish to double figures coming to corn, meat or pellet fished across to the island or down the margins. Good nets of ide and F1s being caught on shallow caster and maggot.

SIBLINGS B Very consistent sport this week with most pegs capable of providing nets to the 50 – 60lb mark. F1s and ide and carp are providing the action with pole fished pellet. Paste or meat are working well either out to the far bank or down the side at 5 – 10 metres.
