PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

As the current situation escalates we have come to the decision to suspend all matches at the fishery until further notice. Having held matches over the weekend it became obvious that we cannot guarantee the safety of our customers as anglers were still gathering in groups on the carpark or during the weigh in putting themselves and our staff at risk . We have a very strong following of match anglers particularly in our veterans sections and it would be irresponsible to encourage them to come at the moment. Matches will resume when the government advises it Is safe to return to normality.
Members and day ticket fishing will carry on until advised that it cannot . All anglers visiting the fishery must pull up to the barrier and then go to the window one at a time. It will be contactless payments only from today. No spectators or walkers will be allowed onto the fishery. The net dip will be still be in operation and landing nets must be dipped on entering the fishery. Anglers must adhere to the 2 metre social distancing rule as directed by the government medical officers.
We urge anybody that is not feeling well or showing symptoms of the virus not to leave home and definitely not come to the fishery or anywhere that they will come into contact with other people.
These are tough times but rest assured the fishery is not going away. Hopefully soon we will all be able to get out enjoy fishing again.
Stay safe
John and the Team
