REPORT

MOLANDS   As with all the pools, the carp have started spawning over the weekend which has affected catches since Friday.  It was fishing well prior to this with lots of F1’s and carp showing along with some big tench and crucians.  The top tactics have been either pellet feeder with banded hard pellet on the hook fished to the island or caster fished short down the first shelf.  Top pegs are 1 – 8, 12, 19, 27 – 31, 42 – 46 and

54 – 60.

GEARYS    Gearys has been very much up and down with lots of fish spawning during the hot period.  The best weight of the year so far came off on Sunday with Baz Byrd catching 156lb during the Tornadoes AC Club match and these were caught on method feeder fished to the island on peg 27.  The better catches this week have been largely made up of carp with the skimmers not feeding well at all.  Carp to nearly 20lb have featured in matches.  Best pegs have been 10 – 15, 18 – 21, 27 – 31 and 36

LITTLE GEARYS   Match weights to over 70lb have been best this week with spawning controlling catches a little.  The good thing with Little Gearys is that the fish are well spread meaning fish are being caught all around the pool.  Shallow tactics accounted for the better catches last week with pellet waggler, candle or long pole working best.  Top pegs are 3, 5, 7- 11, 15, 25 and 29.

GRATUITIES   Fished really well this week with catches to just under the 100lb mark being caught.  The far side has been the best area with pegs 11 – 15 producing well to a feeder fished to the island the best tactic with carp to double figures and lots of fish in the  1- 3lb bracket coming out.

WILLOW   Fishing really well at the moment with lots of small carp from 1 – 4lb and F1’s to 3lb coming out.  Pellet feeder, pellet waggler or the pole fished down the margins are all working well.  Top pegs are 1, 3, 5, 8, 10 and 12.

CRESCENT/REEDY BAY/ALDER/FIRST BAY   These small pools have all been busy through the week and for most, have given decent sport. Float fished corn or meat is accounting for the bigger fish but pellet, caster or maggot will give bites for most of the day.
