The Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier on the Thames between Abingdon and Appleford was fished by 53 anglers on a clear river with very little flow on Saturday 8th October 2016.

With the clear river the fish are shoaling up tightly which meant a lot of anglers struggled and end pegs were a massive bonus on the day.

1st Brian Preece – Bridgnorth – 19lb 15oz. Brian drew bottom end peg on Appleford and had 10lb of roach on pole and caster at 9m and then had 2 bonus bream on 14m pole and worm.
2nd Will Raison (England International) – Daiwa – 19lb 1oz. Will drew opposite the rowing club at Abingdon and had a bream and quality roach at 16m on caster and then had perch, biggest 3lb 10oz at 6m on worm.
3rd Jim Brockie – Sensas WB Clarks – 14lb 5oz. Jim drew top end peg at Abingdon and had 230 fish on 5m whip and maggot over groundbait.
4th Mick Vials – 12lb 5oz.
