Midland matchman Lee Richards is on a great run of form and produced his third open match win in as many weeks at Packington Somers at the weekend.

The 40-year-old Birmingham angler drew peg 52 on Molands Lake where he fished 4mm expander pellets under a 4×16 Chianti float and a size 18 hook to 0.11mm hooklength for a 32-4-0 bag of skimmers, F1 hybrids and tench to 3lb. Just for good measure, Lee had drawn the bonus peg to pick up £300 and he is also now doing very nicely thank you in the Angling Times Country Championships competition. Lee fished at 12m, feeding a small amount of micro pellets, and had a bite about every ten minutes.
The fishing in general has improved at Packington with plenty of 90lb plus pleasure weights being recorded midweek and both pellets and maggots working.
