Birmingham club Ridgemere AC have been crowned the kings of club fishing after winning the Angling Times Supercup final at Barston Lakes.

Scoring only 23 points among their six-man team, they finished ten points clear of second placed Essex Tackle. The club was at an advantage over many sides as they hold regular matches at the Solihull complex, which has been in brilliant form this year.

And their win maintains the dominance of sides from the region in the UK’s biggest competition for club anglers, after DECCA AC took the honours last year. “Some of the lads would have walked over broken glass to fish here today, that’s how much we love the place,” said Ridgemere skipper Aubrey Lovell.
