While the stillwaters freeze, the River Severn at Stourport has been providing some decent sport with the Halesowen Royal British Legion match there on Sunday producing a 17lb 10oz winning weight of dace to John Billingham, who fished stick float and maggot.

It was tight for second with Brian Smith weighing in 11-14-0 and Martyn Yarsley 11-12-0. Also at Stourport, the Mark’s Fishing Tackle open last week produced another nice bag of dace, Ian Ward using the whip and bronze maggot from peg 73 for 20-15-0. In the Bridgnorth AS Teams of Three on Sunday at Linley Bank, Richard Payne came out on top with six barbel for 27-10-0 from peg 29, all his fishing falling to maggot feeder tactics.
