The Severn fished much better than expected in the Shrewsbury Open with three double figure weights including an excellent 22-14-0 winning bag to Starlets rod Rob Brennan.

Rob drew the Priory Wall section and from peg 42 went all out for chub on the waggler. Fishing a 4AAA peacock with red maggot on a size 18 hook and 0.11mm hooklength, Rob caught straight away and kept them coming, with some late dace for an easy win. Warners’ Barry Cooper was second with a waggler-caught silver fish bag including one chub from peg 80 for 10-11-0, with Maver Total Angling’s Tom Gollins third from peg 72 Toll Bridge with 10-8-0 of quality perch on the pole.
