RUMOURS are spreading that an as yet un-named British angler has banked a  massive 58lb carp at French Mecca Lake Cassein.
Information is sketchy, but it’s thought that the fish is the same one banked by Joan Briggs last year. The water, which is currenlty very low, has also produced a 48lb common to a Brit in the last week.
Closer to home, Snake Pit has thrown up two of its elusive big fish. The biggest common in the venue was taken at 4am on April 1st by an angler known simply as Steve ‘Forty Nights’. It weighed 36lb 11oz.
But that fish was bettered the very next morning when a secretive angler called Pete banked a fish known at ‘Dippy the Wandering Mirror’ at an impressive 47lb 6oz.
The common is thought to be the same fish Jason Beaverstock banked at 36lb last year.
