Ever changeable conditions meant that for the 154 anglers who made their way to the Partridge Lakes on 19th April, weights were slightly down on previous weeks. However, this didn’t prevent a very close match with the top five being separated by just over 20lb.

First past the post and qualifying for the final was Colin Scott (Garbolino UK, Spotted Fin, Finygo) who drew peg 11 on Pine Lake. Colin kept a steady stream of small carp and F1’s coming on pellet coupled with very light terminal gear to amass his winning 85lb 5oz.

Hot on Colin’s heels was Dave Brown an Account Manager from Woolston. Ribbon Lake peg 4 was Dave’s draw and he fished a busy match for his 74lb 5oz made up of F1’s, carp and silvers. Dave utilised caster shallow to the reed line early on and then moved onto maggot down the track to bolster his weight.

Tackle shop owner Darren Morris from Bolton rounded out the top three with 70lb 8oz. Drawn on peg 133 of Convey Lake 6, Darren fished expander across over micros to take F1’s and carp to 5lb.

Fourth and fifth on the day was a very tight affair; with Ryan Lidgard amassing 61lb 4oz from Pine Lake peg 10 and Craig Goldstraw just 4oz short, with 61lb 0oz from Spey Lake peg 3.

Thanks to Dave Ikin and his team at Partridge for hosting this round of the Fish ’O’ Mania qualifiers. Next round is on the ever popular Tunnel Barn Farm and as usual there may be some tickets available on the day so please make yourself known to the event organiser.
