The first Sunday open of the year and the first 100lb+ match winning weight. Neil drew peg 49 one of the areas were the carp have shoaled up, he fished the pole with pellet and sweet corn on the hook loose feeding 6 pellets with the catapult if he didn’t get a bite, he had 8 carp in the first hour then 18 more throughout the day the biggest being a mirror at 8lb 9oz and finishing with a total of 112lb 10oz. In 2nd place traveling partner Rob fished a small ground bait feeder and corn cast to the old lily pad for 22 carp the biggest being 4lb.

The lake started off fishing very well with all anglers catching very well but it got icy cold and the wind got up and everybody struggled, but by then Rob ward had done enough, fishing the pole on two lines with pellet and corn he had 9 big carp between 4 & 6lb and 12 below a pound. In 2nd Jim had a lot of carp round the lb mark on pole and pellet and only managed to land 2 bigger fish 7lb each.

Because of the gale force winds it was decided to have a rover so the anglers could pick their own sheltered pegs, Craig went for 26 on the Holmedale and fished a small pellet feeder and double red maggot cast into the old lily beds he had a bite most casts in having over 30 carp from 4oz – 4lb a change to the pole and pellet in the last hour brought him 6 more the biggest then going 7lb ending with a super winter weight of 74lb 5oz. In 2nd place Carl fished pole and pellet for 7 carp – 6lb and 3 bream the biggest just over 4lb.

Best on the Sherwood was 3rd placed Rob Ward with a mixed net of skimmers and small carp for 49lb 10oz and the best on the Cavendish was John Moseley with 17lb 14oz of roach and skimmers.
