Sherwood Forest Fishery Form

A big drop in water temperature as altered the anglers approach, on the Holmedale Lake peg 31 will start to dominate as the temperature stay cool pole fished corn and pellet won a recent match with over 84lb of carp – 4lb, elsewhere round the lake the carp are beginning to shoal up and you can see were they are by the bubbles/mud and fish topping best approach has been straight lead corn, maggot or meat on the hook feeding very little over the top, strong gear is still required fish – 12lb are still being caught . Good sport on the Sherwood lake with bronze maggot fished on the waggler fed with loose fed maggot and hemp for chub – 2lb skimmers and roach -12oz best pegs have been 24-30 on the sunny side. On the Cavendish you have got to bring some maggots, the traditional way of catching the skimmers on pole and pellet as been hit and miss, pole fished worm over choppy and pinkie and ground bait have been best on the recent frosty mornings. Best times to fish are mid morning till dust, call the bailiff on 07721316334 for up to date information.

A hard frost put the fish down and bites were a premium, but it was a fish for fish battle between the top two on pegs 3 & 4 on the Maunside. Both fishing pole and maggot for chub it was Lee that had a late run of better chub – 1 1/2 lb in the last hour he had a fish every put in finishing with 14lb to spare from his neighbour John. Carl Brown was the best on the Cavendish he hadn’t had a fish with 3 hours gone a change to pellet fished at 16m brought him a bite and a skimmer – 12oz every put out.
