Chris having a go on the new casting pool.

I WAS  present when Chris Tarrant dropped into House of Hardy, Alnwick, to officially open their new showcase retail centre, The “Compleat Angler”, writes Patrick Arnold.

Those of us who know Chris are aware that his is a keen fly fisherman and regularly uses Hardy fishing equipment.
He congratulated House of Hardy on their refurbished store, saying that: “Hardy produce some of the best fishing equipment in the world today. I am sure the new store will become a key destination for serious fishermen across the UK. It is a real showcase of all that is best in fishing today.”

This new refurbished store in Alnwick displays all House of Hardy and Greys rods, reels, as well as clothing and accessories, specifically designed for the fisherman.

I personally use Greys rods, reels and lines together with Hardy rods and their balanced equipment gives me and my clients many hours of pleasure.
The new Greys waterproof clothing withstands the worst weather conditions that the Lake District can sometimes produce. Being able to walk around The “Compleat Angler”, look at everything on display and talk to the knowledgeable, expert and helpful staff is in itself invaluable.
Likewise is the opportunity to test rods in the casting pool. There is often the opportunity to do this under the watchful eye of the House of Hardy casting expert, Andy Murray.

We recommend a visit to Alnwick.

Visitors are also able to visit the Hardy Museum with its displays of their fishing tackle through the ages and tour the factory to see the rods and reels they manufacture at Alnwick.

Chris toured the new store and tried his hand at casting in the Hardy casting pool.
