The first British Waterways Stillwater Championship final took place on Saturday 8th September at BW Blythe Waters in the West Midlands.

32 qualifying anglers from 6 qualifying rounds battled it out for the £5000 first prize.

A cold night followed by still, calm, warm, conditions removed any chance of a big weight, but made for a very tight finish with a number of anglers in with a chance.

The BW Stillwater championship 2007 and £5000 first prize was won by Des Southern (Mossella Garbolino) from Oldham with 48-0-0 from peg 14 on Bridge pool.

2nd place taking £1000 was Charlie Shaw (Dynamite Mayfair) from Derby with 44-14-0 from peg 16 on Bridge pool.

3rd place take £400 was Brian Clarke (Banbury Gunsmiths) from Banbury with 39-10-0 from peg 35 on Bridge pool.

Des Southern on Bridge 14 where he fished dead red maggot on a small method feeder over to island from most of the match picking up carp and chub and then picked up a number of larger carp to 8lb on cat meat down the edge in the last 40mins of the match. Charlie Shaw just 2 pegs away fished mainly down the margins fishing pellet and paste to pick up a number of tench and carp to 6lb. Brian Clarke did battle on peg 35 on Bridge pool fishing tight to large reed bed. The carp were reluctant to venture out and Brian lost many fish to the reeds. Brian fished meat and pellet to take an all carp net to 8lb.
