The River Medway at Barming hosted the fourth round of RiverFest 2018, which unfortunately clashed with a certain footballing and fishing event. This resulted in a few no shows, but very good odds for the 31 hopefuls vying for the two positions in Novembers final.

With a low clear river weights were always going to be on the low side, but this led to an incredibly close affair with both zones being decided by a few ounces!

In Zone B Tony Watling Jnr won with 16-12-0, consisting of a couple of bream and skimmers plus roach to 8oz on the long pole from peg 62, edging out Hadrian Whittle on peg 55 by just over 6oz.

Meanwhile, in Zone A, an even closer outcome saw local rod Mick Hayman on peg 13 catching chub and roach on the waggler, to beat Steve Clark by just 2oz!

Our thanks to Mick Roberts and the team on the Medway, well done to the qualifiers and good luck in the final on the Severn in November.
