Eleven teams of six anglers competed for the coveted title in the 2012 Angling Trust Masters held at Leicestershire’s prolific Mallory Park Fisheries. The event was well spread out over the seven Glebe pools, the Foundation Lake and Mallory Big Lake. With so many lakes, all demanding different approaches and varied tactics, this was a real challenge to all the teams. It turned out to be a brilliant fishing match with no less than 22 weights over 100lb taken by the 66 competing anglers, and only one pound separated the top three individuals.

Drennan’s Adam Wakelin, found himself on Foundation peg 22, and put up an epic performance of feeder fishing out to the point of the island, catching carp after carp in the 6lb to 7lb bracket on a variety of  baits, finishing with a net-bulging weight of 178lb 8oz.

There was a tie for the runner-up spot with Aaron Morton, Glebe Pool 5, peg 79, and representing Total Fishing, getting in on the carp spree by pole fishing caster up in the water and later in the match venturing into the margins for individual carp into double-figures in his 177lb 8oz haul.

Equalling this weight was Team Marukyu Green man Dom Lanni, from Glebe Pool 7 peg 79, who also included carp into double-figures and caught well up in the water, feeding four pints of Marukyu Sanagi flavoured pellets.
To prove the point that silver fish can also be great weight builders when breaking the magic ton at the scales, match angling legend Danny Sixsmith, drew peg 22 on Glebe Pool 1and included a fantastic 51lb of silvers in his 118lb catch for the Drennan team.
