WHISBY SATURDAY LEAGUE
The opening fixture of this ten match series was fished on the tidal Trent at Laughterton with 33 anglers fishing the match.
To say the fishing was hard was an understatement as many top class Trent anglers struggled for bites in some areas with several anglers failing to catch a fish.
Victory went to Paul Andrews Sensas Lincs County, who fished the feeder on peg 32 and he had a fine barbel of 6lb 6oz that made up the bulk of his winning catch of 9lb 2oz.
Dave Padley Brigg Britannia, on peg 32 also had a couple of barbel on the feeder to finish second with 8lb.
Dave Small Lincoln Whisby AS, had a bream of 5 ½lb plus perch and roach to finish third off peg 3 and he weighed 7lb 5 ½ oz and could have won the match as he lost another good bream in a snag.
Neil Smithson Sensas Lincs County, had his only bite of the day ten minutes from time and it was a bream of 5lb 7oz which placed him fourth.

GRANT BUTTERFIELD MEMORIAL.
Lincoln & District  AA organized the Grant Butterfield Memorial match on the tidal Trent at North Clifton but only 23 fished the match due to the England game later in the day.
Once again sport was poor with the match being dominated by the odd big fish.
Steve Edson Kerrs Angling Centre, was on peg 25 where he had one bream on feeder fished worm but the fish weighed 6lb 12oz and it proved to be enough to win the match.
Performance of the day was by 17 year old Robert Malt who was drawn on peg 9. He was only fishing the Trent for the second time and it was his first match in adult company.
After taking three perch on the feeder he decided to have ago on the waggler float and fishing a size 14 hook with three maggots he caught a large bream. After a nerve wracking tussle he finally drew the fish over the landing net just ten minutes before the end of the match.
The bream weighed 5lb 7oz and his total weight of 5lb 14oz was enough to take second place so well done Robert.
Vince Kerr Kerrs Angling Centre, had one bream for 5lb 3oz on peg 24 to finish third and Roger Wakenshaw Middy Matchman’s Supplies had a mixed catch of 4lb 7oz on peg 13 to take fourth place.
