Only 10lb separated the top 12 anglers in this tight sunday open. Pete Miles just got the win from moat Island 47. Pete caught 5 carp on pellet cone with meat and later switched to maggots in the margins for 8 more carp to 10lb.

Daz fished meat and pellet on short pole and long pole for 14 carp and 20lb of skimmers

Steve fished corn over 4mm feed pellet for carp to 9lb

There were 15 weights over 100lb on this second day of the tournament final although Andy Oldhams massive 269lb weight dominated proceedings. Andy fished meat and pellet on short pole for 32 carp upto 12lb

2 P Bagshaw, Barnsley Blacks, Peg Outer 71; 149-14-0

Pete fished pellet cone with hair-rigged corn and later switched to corn over pellet and groundbait in the margins for carp to 10lb

3 G Mumby, Hallcroft, Peg Island 18; 144-12-0

Gary also used meat on short pole for his 144lb weight and third place.

Nigel Wood won this lower weight affair on bridge outer pool. Nigel fished maggots over marukyu groundbait into the margins and on short pole for carp to 8lb

Rich fished paste over pellet at 10m and 13m for 10 carp and a few skimmers

This well attended veterans open produced some of the best weights of the year for the over 50’s. Dave Farr fished catmeat over pellet at 6m for 13 carp upto 14lb.

Reg fished 6mm meat at 6m over 4mm feed pellet for 15 carp and 15lb of skimmer bream

Dave fished paste and pellet over hemp and caster feed at 8m for mainly carp to 8lb

Friday 31st August 2012 Daiwa Hallcroft Afternoon Open

1 P Miles, Daiwa Hallcroft, 182-3-0; peg Isl 21

In one of the best matches of the year at Hallcroft with 11 ton-plus weights, Pete Miles came out the victor with a great winning net of mostly carp. Pete fished the pole at 6m and to the margins using a combination of pellets and luncheon meat as his two main baits.

2 S Clark, Mansfield, 169-5-0; peg Out 80

Steve Clark took the close second place with a net of carp too 10lbs, all caught fishing a short pole line using meat and corn.

3 A Oldham, Halkon Hunt, 166-8-0; peg Out 38

Andy Oldham continued his good form with his third ton plus weight in a row, fishing 6mm pellet on the long pole.

The weights were lower today as predicted, but Steve Clark still managed a decent weight of carp fishing short pole with luncheon meat and pellet.

2 D Dare, Marukyu, Peg 33; 68-5-0

Dave Dare took second place with a nice mixed net of carp and skimmers caught on maggot over ground bait at 6m and late on to the margins.

3 P McIntyre, Baittech, Peg 53; 61-6-0

Paul McIntyre edged the close third spot with carp and bream fishing corn to the margins

Dave Dare took second place with another ton plus weight. Dave Dare fished paste over pellet on a short pole line.

Steve Shepherd took the close third spot fishing paste over hemp and pellet at 11m and to the margins.
