FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 3/11/13

Last week 80 rods caught 189 for an average 2.36.
The blustery conditions made sport difficult on some days but the general trend is that sport is improving with the fish spreading out around the pools.
On Cocks Close, the wires bank, high bank and old boat jetty corner have been producing fish.  The Great Pool has been better with most anglers catching a few fish with the shallow water at the top end or along the boat jetty side of the pool the best areas.
Top flies have been Gold Head Damsel, Pea Head, black Lures, Viva, Minkies, black or olive Buzzers, Bloodworm and Cats Whisker.

The best fish of the week was an 11lb rainbow caught and released by Nick Howarth of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on the Great Pool and he took it on a black Buzzer fished on a floating line.  Rod Lacey also of Nuneaton fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught and released 11 fish to 5lb using small Cats Whiskers on a floating line.  Dave Woolaston of Warwick took a 4lb brown on a white Chomper and Andrew Moulder of Dorridge caught seven fish to 4lb from a boat on Cocks Close and these came to Bloodworm and sunken Daddy Long Legs.  Steve Gowan of Knowle took a five fish limit to 3lb whilst fishing a Damsel Nymph on a floating line from the bank of Cocks Close.

On the members’ water Park Meadow, Andrew Miles caught a five fish bag which all came to small orange Lures.
