Fish’O’Mania hosted its twelfth round of the 50k contest on a new fishery for the competition at Weston Pools and it certainly didn’t disappoint. A near full house of 91 anglers lined the picturesque pools and they were treated to both some beautiful conditions and some great fishing, with 60lb needed on all sections to take home some money.

It was that man again that took the match win and the place in the final, Andy May. Drawing peg 2 on Stretton Lake, Andy went about priming two swims, one short on caster and another for pinging 4mm pellets. After a few fish shallow caster, Andy moved across to his windswept far bank line and caught good sized carp both shallow and on the deck. At the scales the 2016 Champion had amassed 132lb 2oz and booked his spot in the final. Andy took to social in typical fashion and added ‘yessss, we’ve only gone and won, can’t believe it, fourth time in the final’!

Second place on the day went to Matt Higgins, who drew well on Clay Pit peg 5. Matt also primed several lines, catching on caster shallow and on pellets short and down the edge. Matt put a very respectable 116lb 0oz on the board, although he was left rueing lost fish; ‘I’ve finished second before and have lost a shedful under the boards today’.

Rounding out the top three was Wayne Rooke, who’s home for the day was peg 2 on Belvedere. Wayne kept things simple, focusing on casters shallow and put together 102lb 4oz come the final whistle.
