Bowes Carp Lakes

Overcast,  Ambient temp 10 deg, and winds gusting to W 23mph, barometer 1013.9mb, humidity 82%, moon phase waning crescent,  water temp rose to 7.9 deg by Thursday but dropped Thursday night and today’s temperature is 6.2 deg, DO 16.3ppm, PH 7.62

Steve cast to open water with ground bait feeder, fished hair rigged corn on 18 drennan carp match hook, 0.14m Antares hook length.

To Thursday,  water temperatures had been rising with great consistent catch rates of all species, with crucians starting to feed. Tench to 5lb

Lookout mixed coarse Lake

The water is colouring up as the fish  feeding increases, which is uncommon for March, fish are feeding tight to the margins with good bags of common and mirror carp, skimmer bream, roach, rudd and quality sized golden Rudd, golden orfe and the most beautiful iridescent blue orfe, ide, golden tench to 2lb, green tench to 5lb, and crucians to 2lb 8oz, now feeding, all species taken a variety of bait including quarter inch cubed spam (natural,) small grains of sweetcorn, maggots, caster, and chopped worm. Best method of the week waggler or pole fished tight to the margins.

Bowes carp lake

Some cracking days sport to be had with Gary Spratt, and Paul Rennie,  bagging up with a fish a chuck on Tuesday on pegs 1 and 3 using a feeder.  Regular Andy Powell had very productive session on peg 39 fishing the waggler at 10 meters.  Andys best fish of the day was a fabulous fin perfect 7lb common carp.  Andy said the quality of this fish made his day.

Bassetts 

The recently introduced stock fish are feeding very well, and Jimmy Hagan is targeting any large carp, crucians, and tench which escaped the lake netting two weeks ago, these fish are being transferred to Lookout to compliment the stock moved when Bassetts was netted.

Juniors and adults who love to catch smaller fish both silvers and tench also carp are enjoying  a good days sport
