Ray Harding was the lucky capture of Temple’s newest big common, a stunning fish weighing 34lb 8oz which was new lake record for a common.

Fishing peg 5 along the road bank, Ray started his 24 hour session in peg 4, before moving to the next peg down to get a better angle for his baits, a 14mm Activate boilie which he fished out to between the islands close to the aerator.

Ray caught his stunning common at 2am Monday morning, which was in perfect condition, this fish is also a new record for weight gain as the fish has put on 10lb 8oz in just over two years.

Carrying tag number 186759, this fish was stocked from our barn pond on the 23/9/2003 weighing just 24lb. whilst it is possible that this fish has been caught before, it has never been tag read and the skirt suggested that this was the first time the fish had been caught.

Ray went on to catch the ‘Parrot’ weighing 26lb 8oz, whilst being perfect in every other way; this fish has a deformed mouth but is in perfect condition otherwise and piling on the weight.

Full details of all the above catches can be read on the fisheries website news pages. Alternatively, further information can be obtained from Ray on 0208 395 0276or David at the fishery on (01306) 877540.

Having already produced 10 thirties since the beginning of May, friends Chris Maltby and Tony Tremlett decided to fish their first night session on Temple Lake and were rewarded with two new PB’s in the shape of a 32lb 8oz mirror and 30lb 5oz common which they caught on Tuesday 6th June.

Fishing peg 6 along the road bank, Chris Maltby was the first of the pair to strike it lucky, catching a stunning mirror weighing 32lb 8oz just after dawn. Fishing a Carp Company 20mm Natural Impact boilie Chris fished his baits over a few free offerings close to one of the aerators, which is located in between the islands. Bearing tag number 187219, Chris’s big mirror was stocked from the King George reservoir on the 23/9/03 weighing 23lb 7oz. Chris went to catch 3 further fish all around the twenty pound mark.

Having witnessed Chris’s catches, Tony decided to move swims early morning opting for peg 4, which was just down from Chris. Fishing similar tactics and baits, it was Tony’s turn next to strike lucky as he struck into a big common weighing 30lb 5oz. Carrying tag number 143222, Tony’s fish was stocked on the 20/11/03 from our own Barn Pond weighing just 21lb 2oz.
