Dear Sir

As part of the Scottish National Angling Programme (SNAP) I am setting up a web based national club for young people
www.thecastaways.org.uk <http://www.thecastaways.org.uk/>   The site will initially have four sections.

Starting Out
This section is designed to provide information for newcomers to the sport and novice anglers, introducing young anglers to the basics of the sport and advising how and where to get started.

Tips and Tackle
This section is designed to provide information for current young anglers to help them develop their angling knowledge and skills as well as educational information on environmental and other relevant issues.

The Castaways Club
This section will provide information on Scotland’s first national web based angling club, how to join, competitions, photo gallery, members articles, etc

Where to Find…
This section will provide information on access to affordable equipment, fishing and instruction as well as angling courses, qualifications and career information/opportunities in angling related subjects.

I am looking for some regular contributors to the castaways web site and wondered if you could offer any suitable articles and pictures from your files that would help to provide information to stimulate interest for current and new anglers.  If it is possible it may be simpler and less time consuming to have permission to use old articles from back issues with acknowledgements to the source of the articles, this would be a great help. Our editors could then use articles as and when it was suitable.

As I am sure you are aware the continued growth of our sport particularly at the youth end of the market is crucial. The Castaways initiative is currently being piloted within the Angus Schools and will be based around the education system in Scotland, with Castaways membership cards being delivered via members schools.

If you are interested in contributing or you would like further information on SNAP or the castaways you can contact me at ian@scaet.org.uk
Alternatively if you have articles you would like to send in please send to secretary@thecastaways.org.uk

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Ian
