The latest round of pike trails at prolific Chew Valley has got off to a brilliant start with fish to 38lb 8oz.

The massive female was taken by Ian Nadin, who was fishing with guide Julian Chidgey who also has a 30-pounder. In fact they had two 30lb-plus pike in the boat at the same time.
Julian, who is pictured with his ‘thirty’ said: “Absolutely over the moon after a four-year wait for my third 30lb pike. However, my fish was dwarfed by Ian’s amazing 38lb 8oz fish!

STOP PRESS:  Word is that the venue record has been beaten during the same trials with a fish of 44lb 6oz taken by a bank angler fishing off the venue’s Wick Green.
