Biggest story in match fishing this week has to be the huge carp that one the winter league match on the River Wye.

Danny Baker was fishing chopped worm for perch on the feeder when he latched into something he hadn’t bargained for.
However, his gear gave him a chance – he was fishing a size 12 hook, 0.20mm hooklength and 8lb line.
However it was still some feat for Cardiff Nomads man Danny to get the monster 36lb 12 oz mirror in and not surprisingly tiring it our wasn’t the full picture.
It was miles too big for his landing net and the only thing he was able to in order to get it in was jump in after it! Danny had been struggling up until that point but it was game over after that as he weighed in 38lb to win the match.
Congratulations Danny – top angling! Thanks to Dave Harrell for sending in the pic.
