Last Monday was the highly anticipated start of the predator fishing season at Grafham Water. Those fortunate enough to reserve a boat for the first day were targeting zander and pike.

As usual Grafham Water didn’t disappoint with plenty of zander, including two from different areas being weighed at 17lb 8oz and at 15lb 2oz.

Four more zander over 12lb were recorded with several in the 9 -11lb range. The biggest pike weighed in at 25lb 3oz and was taken on a jerkbait.

The best areas seem to be the inlet boils in the middle of the main bowl and the north tower, with the odd mid double figure pike being taken from the mouth of Savages.
