THE Scottish island of Islay is to host the European Fly Fishing Championships from Septmber 8th-12th, with backing from the islands whiskey distillers Morrison Bowmore.
Sixteen countries will be taking part in what’s the biggest fishing event ever held on the idland. The countries expected to field teams of five include Scotland, France, Norway, Wales, Sweden, Poland, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Italy, England, Spain, Germany, the Czech republic and Finland. Last year’s championship, held in
Belgium, was won by France.

The venues to be used for the four day event will be Loch Finlaggan, Loch Gorm, Loch Ballygrant and Loch Kinnabus.
Loch Gorm. The latter is the Islay lochs and is world renowned for its wild brown trout.
