The 2008 NFA Ladies National takes place next weekend on the 26th July at Lakeview Fisheries near Melton Mowbray, where over 60 anglers will be taking part all looking to take home the prize of national champion.
Lakeview Fisheries is one of the most well known fisheries in the country, so anglers will have to be at their best to gain an advantage over their competitors.
The approach needed to do well on a venue like Lakeview is to fish mainly pellet, however depending on the weather, if we see a British summertime and the temperature heats up a little then casters may be a suitable option.
The weights that the ladies are going to need to find will be well over the 100lb mark, as in the last few weeks the average winning weight has been 150lbs.
Fishery Manager at Lakeview, Emily commented, “It’s very exciting to have the ladies here and raise female anglers’ awareness of the fishery as a place that they can come and fish. Hopefully the competition will get some great coverage helping angling to encourage more women to take up the sport.”
