SCOTLAND’S top commercial coarse fishery has installed an innovative new wave making machine to keep one of its lakes fishing through the freeze.

Magiscroft Fishery, which is situated at Cumbernauld near Glasgow, has installed the device on its top pond with a view to making sure anglers can take advantage of the excellent mixed fishing on offer whatever the weather.

“Some fishing can now be virtually guaranteed when waters all around are frozen solid!” said Scotland skipper George Glen, who is joint owner of the £4-a-day water.

“The slight flow created encourages the fish to feed even when freezing and of course it is the F1s that are responding best in the cold to both maggot and pellet. The Island Pond is also showing positive signs of emerging from winter now and John Callaghan won the latest sweep with all-carp for nearly 16lb with fish to over 2lb.”
Magiscroft is Scotland’s first and only major commercial fishery dedicated only to coarse fishing. The creation of the 100-peg venue is the culmination of years of dreaming, planning and hard work by Scottish internationals Ronnie MacLeod and George Glen.
It’s the latest water to be listed in our growing Fisheries section and all you have to do to find out more is click the Fisheries button in the navigation bar and then click on Coarse Fisheries.
