RAVENTHORPE Reservoir is considering extending its pike fishing opportunities in 2006 due to the demand.

The 2005 November trials at the Northamptonshire trout water were excellent, with anglers boating six fish over 30lb, with the best a whopping 38-pounder.

Now senior warden Nathan Clayton is looking to allow bank fishing for a further month after the boat fishing, into December.

“We are closed until early March when we stock with trout, and are very busy with trout anglers for at least three months, so opening for pike fishing any earlier is out,” Nathan told Midland Angler. “But we are aware of the exceptional pike in the water and will look to extend the fishing through December this year.

“Bank fishing for pike continues until the end of December at Pitsford Reservoir, and seems very popular.”

Bookings are not being taken by phone. If you want to reserve a place in the 2006 pike trials, either email fishing@anglianwater.co.uk or book online at www.anglianwaterleisure.co.uk .
