The latest issue of Game Fisher’s Dairy includes the incredible picture and story of a near 50lb salmon landed on the fly from the River Tweed – the biggest from the famed Scottish borders river for years.

It fell to the rod of Edinburgh angler Jim Read, with expert assistance from ghillie Ian Farr, and is easily the biggest of the respected guide’s 25-year career on the river.
The mighty cock fish measured 50 inches long with a 25 inch girth and fell to a Gold Bodied Willie Gunn tube fly – and is the top story in the video magazine’s Fly Fishing News feature which, like all the videos in the current issue, is FREE TO VIEW online, on mobile and on Samsung Smart TVs and blu-ray players.

There’s also news on the sale of Hardy Grey’s, England’s huge win in the annual Bank International, Rutland Water’s biggest brown trout of the year and a record-nudging grayling taken on the fly.

Plus there’s a special report from Hugh Miles on the desperate outlook for many of the UK’s famous chalk streams and rivers, entitled ‘Our Rivers In Crisis’, and featuring Paul Knight of the Salmon And Trout Association who discusses the STA’s formal complaint to the European Union on the issue. As always the issue is packed with great video for fly anglers all over the world – other highlights of the issue include:
