Meet the biggest common carp ever landed – all 100lb 8oz of it!

The mighty fish came from Etang La Saussaie in the Champagne region of France and was caught by Colin Smith.

The carp, which came from peg 14 on the lake on Premier Bait, came at 6.45pm. It was last captured in 2011 when it weighed 88lb and is clearly the biggest ever caught from the eight-acre venue promoted through Carpe France. Colin’s fish was on Facebook before the day was out.

It’s the second time a carp over 100lb has been banked – the first was caught last June at 101lb 4oz from Euro-Aqua Lake in Hungary by Austrian angler Roman Hanke and that fish still holds the world record for the species.
