A very low river Tyne with bright sunshine made for tough conditions for the thirty five anglers taking part in the seventh round of Riverfest Qualification.

Nicky Jose of Tricast Woodlands crushed the opposition in A Section. Nicky caught 23lb 11oz of dace on the pole at 9 and 11 meters with maggot over groundbait from his peg upstream of Wylam road bridge.

Runner up in A section was Yarm angler Paul Stainsby with 13lb 4oz from the ‘stink hole’ peg at Wylam. Paul caught two chub plus dace, on the stick float and waggler with maggot hook bait.

Third place and taking that all-important B section was Leeds Union angler Lee Furness, with 12lb 13oz from the car park run off at Beaufront. Lee had chub to 3lb and quality dace on the waggler.

RESULT:
1. Nicky Jose 23-11-0
2. Paul Stainsby 13-4-0
3. Lee Furness 12-13-0
