FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 26/1/14
Last week 48 rods caught 165 fish for an average of 3.44.
It was a quiet week with wet and windy weather forecasts putting off all but the hardiest anglers.  Despite the difficult conditions, most anglers enjoyed good sport with the boats particularly doing well.
The largest fish of the week was 5lb rainbow caught by Mr A Rankine of Falkirk who was using pink Lures fished on a sinking line from a boat on Cocks Close and that was the largest fish of the nine caught.  Ray Inman of Birmingham fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught seven fish to 4lb using small black Lures on an intermediate line.  Fishery regular Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished from the bank of Cocks Close and used his favourite Damsel with an orange bead head to catch seven fish to 4lb.
On the members’ water Park Meadow, Paul Reay of Birmingham fished from a boat and caught seven fish on a combination of white Lures and black Buzzers fished on a floating line.
The top flies this week have been Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymphs, Montana, black Fritz, Minkies, black Buzzer and Bloodworm with slow sinking or intermediate lines best.
The top areas have been the old boat jetty corner and high bank of Cocks Close and the far side from the boat jetty on Park Meadow.
