FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 19/2/12

Last week 72 rods caught 345 fish for an average of 4.79.

The fishery defrosted early in the week and since then has been in terrific form with lots of fish being caught including fish into double figures.

The biggest fish of the week and the year so far was caught this week when Mick Hanson of Nuneaton took a 16lb rainbow whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close.
The fish fell to a Cats Whisker fished on an intermediate line and was the best of a five fish catch.  Steven Roberts of Birmingham caught fish of 11lb 3oz and 7lb 6oz in a nine fish catch, again from a boat on Cocks Close and yet again Cats Whisker was the successful pattern.  Mr M Young of Kidderminster took a 14lb 4oz rainbow which came to a Blob pattern and was caught from the bank of Cocks Close.

On the members’ waters, Paul Reay of Birmingham used black Lures and small black Buzzers to tempt seven fish to 4lb from the Park Meadow pool.  Colin England and Tony Plummer of Kenilworth shared a boat on the Great Pool and caught 12 fish between them using small GRHE fished on a floating line.

Cocks Close has been in excellent form during the last few days with both bank and boat anglers catching well.  The best areas have been the old boat jetty corner and the high bank.  On the members’ waters, Great Pool has been best in the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty.  Park Meadow has been fishing well on the far side and from the dam wall.

Best patterns are Cats Whisker, black Lure, orange Fritz, white Minkies, Bloodworm, Gold Head Damsel and black or olive Buzzers.
