REPORT

MOLANDS    Fished very well this week with the F1’s and carp making up the bulk of catches with skimmers and crucians also showing in numbers.  Match weights to over 70lb recorded but nets of 30 – 40lb coming from all around the pool.  Pole and pellet or chopped worm and caster have been the best approaches with a small pellet feeder as a back up.  Top pegs are 2, 8 – 15, 29 – 33, 43 – 46 and 55 – 60.

GEARYS   Early in the week Gearys was on fine form with some terrific catches of carp.  Ray Chandler of Balsall Common fished peg 19 and caught 27 fish between 6 and 13lb for an estimated total weight of 200lb and they all came to the straight lead with 8mm pellet on the hook fished at 30 metres out.  Match weights were caught to over 80lb this week but sport did get harder after the first couple of frosts at the weekend.  Best pegs have been 6 – 15, 17 – 21, 27, 30 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS    Still not in the best of form but improved a bit this week.  Catches to over 40lb were made in matches with 20 – 30lb possible from most pegs.  F1’s to 3lb have featured in catches with a few skimmers and bigger carp.  Pole fished caster, maggot or chopped worm has been the best approach.  Top pegs are 7, 10 -14, 21, 25 and 27.

GRATUITIES    This pool is still not in the best form although pleasure anglers have enjoyed some decent sport particularly on the feature pegs 1, 8, 9, 15 and 16.  Pole fished paste, pellet or maggot have accounted for the better catches fishing long down the edge on these pegs.  Carp and tench are making up the bulk of the catches.

ANNIVERSARIES    The far end on the early pegs has been the best area with pegs 1 – 9 all producing good catches to pleasure anglers.  Pole fished pellet or paste has been best for carp but mixed nets are coming to the worm and caster.

WILLOW    Always popular with pleasure anglers Willow has been in decent form this week with plenty of carp in the 1 – 3lb bracket along with a few larger specimens, tench, crucians and skimmers.  Pleasure anglers have caught carp to double figures off the top with biscuit or bread catching plenty of fish this week.  Pellet or caster fished down the middle has caught plenty of skimmers, tench, crucians and a few carp, best pegs are 1- 6.
