FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 16/10/11

Last week  104 rods caught 209 fish for an average of 2 per rod.

The bright conditions saw the fishing a little harder for most of the week, although there were still some good catches made.

Alex Kerr of Nuneaton fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught his five fish limit then returned a further six fish which went to over 3lb and these came to a Damsel Nymph or black Buzzer fished on a floating line.

The largest fish of the week was a 6lb rainbow caught by Mike Ravenscroft of Kenilworth who was fishing from a boat on Great Pool and was the best of a six fish catch which included another at 4lb, these all came to a Cats Whisker Lure fished on a floating line.  Mr N Baskoth of Coventry had a 5lb 12oz rainbow which fell to a white Minkie whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close.  Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield kept up his good run on Park Meadow catching six fish to 4lb on a black Lure.

A variety of tactics worked this week with Lures fished on sinking lines starting to come into their own with Cats Whiskers, Minkies, black Lures all catching a few fish.  For those enjoying a more a more imitative approach, black Buzzers, Bloodworms and even small Emergers were the better patterns.

The hotspots have been the high bank and the old jetty corner of Cocks Close, the shallow water to the left of the jetty on Great Pool and the far side and shallow end of Park Meadow.
