REPORT

MOLANDS   Fished harder this week with the water very clear at the moment and more refined tactics have provided the best sport.  Long pole with pellet or caster is accounting for mixed bags of F1’s, skimmers, crucians and also picking up the odd tench and carp.  The carp are responding to a small method or bando feeder with white boilies, pellet or dead maggot on the hook and you need to get it right up to the island for best results.  Best pegs are 2, 8 – 14, 19, 27, 31, 42 – 46 and 58 – 60.

GEARYS   Improved through the week with carp and skimmers showing on all areas.  The milder conditions saw the pellet waggler working well for carp to double figures.  Craig O’Brien won the Winter League on Sunday with a best for the event at 108lb using a method feeder with red boilies on the hook for carp to 17lb and skimmers.  Pole fished corn, pellet or caster over a dark ground bait is working well for skimmers, tench and a few carp.  Best pegs 1, 7 – 13, 18, 19, 29, 31 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS   A mixed week this week with one day fishing well the next hard.  Winning weights to over 70lb has been mainly F1’s mixed with a few carp and skimmers.  Long pole and pellet fished shallow, method feeder to the island and even the waggler fished shallow have all been catching a few this week.  Best pegs have been on the far side with pegs 7 – 17 the most consistent area.

GRATUITIES   The most consistent pool at the moment with good nets of carp, tench, crucians and skimmers coming to a variety of tactics.  Pole with pellet, caster/worm or corn and a small method feeder fished tight up to the island have been producing plenty of fish.  Best pegs are 1, 6 – 9 and 14 – 16.

ANNIVERSARIES   If you want loads of bites fish Anniversaries with caster or expander pellet on the pole for mixed nets of carp, tench, skimmers, crucians and small barbel.  Fishing into the open water on pegs 1 – 6, 12, 15 – 19 and 22 has been best.

WILLOW   Float fished caster, pellet or maggot has been catching plenty of fish with F1’s, carp, crucians and skimmers making up the bulk of catches.  A small pellet feeder fished tight to the island is picking out the better carp with fish to double figures showing to this.

RIVER BLYTHE   After heavy rain early in the week the river fined down to a good level and some good bags of chub, roach, dace and perch were caught.  Bronze maggot or caster on the stick float has accounted for nets to 25lb.
