FISHERY REPORT

MOLANDS The bigger carp for many a year has come from Molands this week weighing in at 28lb caught by 16 year-old Cavon Philips who was using a pineapple boilie on peg 8. There have been a few 20lb+ fish caught this week along with lots of double figure samples which are coming to boilies or big pellets fished on the bomb and as the weather warmed, off the top on floating baits. In the matches, an incredible 197lb won Sunday’s match in which Phil Canning was using the waggler with 6mm pellet catching carp to 16lb. Waggler or bomb with pellet or maggot and pellet fished down the margins have been the best tactics in matches.

GEARYS Still fishing hard with the evening sessions producing the best catches. Carp to 19lb have featured in matches and pleasure catches. In the matches, fishing shallow with waggler or pole and mugging carp have been the winning tactics. Carp anglers are catching, fishing boilies or pop-ups over pellets. The best areas have been the high bank and around the middle stumps.

LITTLE GEARYS The F1 dominated pools have fished hard with the overnight frosts and the high-pressure affecting sport. Carp were needed to win matches on Little Gearys and fish to 15lb were caught in nets to over 60lb. Pellet waggler and long pole with caster or pellet fishing shallow have been the better tactics. The top end of the pool from 1 – 10 has been the most consistent area.

GRATUITIES There have been lots of silvers being caught on waggler or pole with caster, maggot or soft pellet. The carp have been on the top and shallow waggler or surface baits have accounted for fish to 15lb.

ANNIVERSARIES The form pegs have been 2 – 6, 14, 17 and 19 – 23. The F1s have been the main target but there are plenty of silvers and the odd carp being caught too. It has been mainly pole fishing with maggot, pellet or caster but a waggler fished shallow with 6mm pellet and a small feeder to the features have been working too.

WILLOW The popular Willow pool has been fishing well this week, particularly in the evenings. Carp to double figures, F1s to 6lb and plenty of skimmers, roach, ide and even chub are being caught. Corn, meat or paste working best for the bigger fish but maggot or caster will get you lots of silver fish.

SIBLINGS A Siblings ‘A’ has been a bit tougher this week with the fish mainly sitting on the top enjoying the sun. Nets to around 50lb were caught by dobbing pellets across or mugging the carp with pellet on the pole. Later in the day, fishing down the margins with corn or meat is producing some decent catches.

SIBLINGS B The most consistent of the pools this week with lots of F1s from 1 – 3lb being caught along with a few carp, tench and ide. Pole fished maggot, pellet or paste, either across to the far side or down the middle has been working well.
