FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 9/3/14

Last week 116 rods caught 395 fish for an average of 3.40.

Cocks Close and Park Meadow have been in great form this week with lots of fish coming to natural imitative patterns such as Damsels, GRHE, Buzzers and even a few taken on dries.  Cats Whisker and black Tadpole are the best of the Lures.

There are plenty of fish in the 3 – 5lb range coming out and the best was a 6lb 8oz rainbow caught by regular angler Rod Lacey of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he used small Buzzers to tempt this one along with nine other fish to 3lb.  Steve Gowan of Knowle fished the bank of Cocks Close and he caught seven fish to 4lb on a small black Buzzer fished on a floating line.  John Riley of Atherstone fished from a boat on Cocks Close and he caught eight fish to 5lb 4oz on black Buzzers.

On the members’ water Park Meadow, new member Clive Squires of Coventry took five fish and returned a further six fish to 5lb 4oz using small black Lures and black Buzzers.

The best areas have been the road bank and high bank on Cocks Close and on Park Meadow, from the middle to the far side from the boat jetty.

The settled weather should see Great Pool and Hall Pool back in action by the end of the week.

(day ticket pool) and Park Meadow (members’ pool) both fishing very well.  Lots of fish in

the 3 – 4lb range coming out with the biggest fish of the week a 9lb 9oz rainbow caught by Mick Hanson of Nuneaton who was fishing on Cocks Close from a boat.  Mick used a black and green Buzzer fished on a floating line to tempt the big one and this tactic also saw the downfall of nine other fish.  Mr L Lerigo of Nuneaton caught five fish to 4lb 5oz whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to a small Buzzer fishing on a floating line.  Tom Melton of Solihull caught a five fish limit with fish to 4lb and these all fell to a Cats Whisker Lure fished on a sinking line.

On Park Meadow, Bob Tench of Shustoke caught seven fish to 3½lb using a black Tadpole on a floating line.

The top patterns are Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, Goldhead Damsel, orange Fritz, black and olive Buzzers, Montana Nymph and Bloodworm.

The best areas are the high bank, road bank and around the middle trees on Cocks Close.  On the Park Meadow pool, the deeper water in the middle and the far side of the lake.

From the 1st March the fishery will open at 8am and close at dusk (6pm).
