FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 19/3/17

Last week 68 rods caught 282 fish for an average of 4.14 fish per rod

Another good week on the Trout Fishery with plenty of fish coming out to a variety of tactics. Lots of fish around the 4lb mark with the odd special fish being caught.

The biggest fish of the week was a 12lb 10oz rainbow caught by Ian Reeve of Rugby who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he tempted it with a Cats Whisker fished on an intermediate line which accounted for another at 7lb 2oz in an 11 fish catch. Terry Holder of Leicester had an 7lb fish in a five fish limit taken from the bank of Cocks Close and these fell to a ‘Kennick Killer’ Nymph fished on a floating line. Paul Fleeman of Redditch fished catch and release from a boat on Cocks Close and caught 15 fish including samples to 6lb and these all came to Bloodworm or Montana Nymph fished on a floating line.

On the Park Meadow pool Graham Hewitt of Solihull fished Damsel Nymphs to catch seven fish to 4lb and Harold Pritchett of Atherstone used a similar fly to tempt a five fish limit with fish to nearly 4lb.

Top patterns have been Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, black Buzzer, Bloodworm, Gold Head Damsel and GRHE.

The best areas have been the road bank and the old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close with the wind pushing the fish down towards that end of the pool.

On Park Meadow the fish are moving round on mass with the dam wall and the far side from the boat jetty the best areas.
