Heavy rains last week brought some big river fish onto the feed, topped by a new barbel record for the River Anker in the shape of 15lb 10oz fish to Tamworth angler John Turner. Fishing a short evening session on the Mercia AC controlled stretched of the tiny river, the 46-year-old fished a pair of 12mm Quality Baits drilled halibut pellets on a size 8 hook, mid river. Just two weeks ago John landed a barbel of 12lb 4oz and a chub of 5lb 8oz from the same stretch, as reported here. The fish beats the old Anker record by 6oz.
