Shakespeare continue their dominance of the region’s team match fishing scene – they have as good as qualified for the semi finals of the Winter League from the Warwickshire Division with a round still left to fish.

The team’s latest triumph came in round five on Lee Woodhouse’s HanKat stretch of the Walsall Canal – it’s a bloodworm and joker job here and as long as you have it there are always fish to be caught.

Shakespeare did have a bit of luck on their side to win this round by a point from Tipton (see results) – Tony Baxter included a foul-hooked 2lb bream in his third-placed catch.

They have now won four rounds and finished second in the other, heading into the final round on the Coventry Canal between Nuneaton and Atherstone on six points and with a seven-point cushion.

Shakespeare will be choosing the Stainforth and Keadby semi final, leaving Tipton, Dams and Lock and Browning Central fighting it out for a place in the other northern semi at Heronbrook Fishery.
