will be filming at this year’s Ivan Mark’s Memorial match to create a TV tribute to the greatest match angler of them all.

The internet based TV channel for anglers – – will be filming an episode of its Match TV series, an hopes to talk to many anglers who fished with the match legend over the years.

These will include Roy Marlow, owner of the Glebe Fishery where the two-day event takes place, and former Leicester Likely Lads colleague.

The series is presented by’s Gareth Purnell, who said: “When Ivan passed away I was editor of Midland Angler and had the privilege of organising the first Ivan Mark Memorial, which tehn took place on the River Welland.

“It seemed an appropriate venue at the time – Ivan won so many big matches there. But of course fishing has changed and in his later years Ivan came to enjoy the commercials as many of us do. His favourite venue was The Glebe, run by his old mate Roy Marlow. The Glebe has hosted the last few memorials and I suspect it will for many years to come, and we are delighted to be there to pay a tribute to the great man.

“Roy tells me loads of his old pals will be there on the Sunday and we are sure to pick up some great stories. I’m sure it will make a great programme.”

The angler recording the biggest weight on either day will receive the coveted Ivan Marks Memorial Trophy and, once again, this award will be presented by Linda Marks and son Chris. Zone winners will also receive engraved trophies. Reigning Ivan Marks Memorial Champion is local angler Rob Wootton who last year established a Venue Record with a whopping 325lb catch!

A substantial donation is to be given to ‘The Angling Trust’ out of this year’s Memorial Fund. Ivan would have wanted to support this angling body which benefits all anglers. £500 was given to ‘Angling’ last year and it is hoped that amount will be bettered in 2010.
