The first of the winter open matches at Solihull’s Barston Lakes saw really close finishes in both the overall and the silver fish events.

Steve Daily was the man in form off fancied peg 20, where he got off to a flying start on the Method feeder at range and continued to take carp and F1s throughout the day for a total winning weight of 109lb. That was just 5lb too good for Tim Bull, who also fished the Method. In the silver fish match, organizer Lee Taylor came out on top with 43-8-0 of roach and perch, but only just, Rob Cooksey taking 43-6-0 of skimmers to the scales. It was a brilliant match in which the lowest recorded weight was 37lb. For more information on the series contact Lee on 07539 347851.
