Interest in fishing and in particular specialist angling including carp, trout, coarse, fly and sea fishing is at an all time high in the UK. Many thousands enjoy the sport regularly, making it the most popular leisure pursuit nationwide.

Already involved in some of the countries biggest and best Game Fairs, Living Heritage is holding a brand new angling show as part of its Test valley Game, Country and Angling Fair, taking place at Broadlands in Hampshire over the weekend of 22nd & 23rd August 2009. The fishing show is a major attraction at Broadlands with many top names from the sport giving demonstrations, talks and master classes.

The Test Valley Game fair really is a day out for all the family.

Its all about taking part, watching and enjoying Britain’s favourite past time. Visitors will be able to spend many happy hours browsing through the latest tackle & gear available and even have a sneak preview of next years newest fishing products in the Angling showcase at the village. It features the British Antique and Vintage Tackle Fair, where tackle can be bought, sold, swapped or just admired.

The angling show wouldn’t be complete without fishing competitions and Broadlands won’t disappoint. A Spey casting competition is included and following its success at Burghley is likely to attract many great names from the sport who along with all comers – novice and experienced – will compete for a first prize of £1000. Last years winner at Burghley was Rory Costello of Ireland and second place went to current world champion Gordon Armstrong.
Keen anglers, enthusiast and beginners alike will be delighted to learn that Bob Nudd is giving his own unique master classes as part of the fun and Bob was thrilled to make a personal best catch when he appeared at this year’s Burghley event. He is hoping that Broadlands will provide the perfect backdrop to repeat the experience!

The angling show & village is one of several specialist villages at Broadlands (craft, falconry, and sporting gun) and is all part of a very successful show formula featuring local food & top chefs, falconry, gundogs, horse & dog scurries, clay shooting and all day long arena attractions.  (Not to mention country shopping, plenty for children to do and mounted games – this event hosts their massive world championships -with endless food & drink to enjoy),
